The Quest Kodiak was originally designed by Tom Hamilton for missionary work. It was intended to be a seaplane, but it took him another two decades to design the amphibious floats for it.
With standard landing gear it has the shortest take off and landing distance of any plane its size. It can land in a field in the middle of a narrow valley surrounded by mountains.
With these amphibious floats it can go anywhere.
It's designed to bring humanitarian aid to areas that are hard to reach.
