A host in Esslingen, Germany, has had enough: In his Italian restaurant, he now prohibits separate payments, as it means too much effort for his service staff. In Switzerland, restaurant owners are also considering measures against separate payments – much to the annoyance of some customers, as heard from the 20-Minuten community."
The host may upset many. From his perspective, it is nothing more than another measure to secure his existence, a kind of shrinkflation in the service industry to defend himself against inflation. From the customer's viewpoint, it is a deterrent measure, unpopular and inconvenient. In the end game of fiat, the host will completely close down, as the business is no longer worthwhile. Fiat money in the end: Everyone loses, lose-lose.
