Should I join X again to promote my book?

I have written a kids story and am working with an incredible artist on the illustrations. It’s intended for the Bitcoin community but if I did it right it will also have broader appeal. It’s a classic hero’s journey about a boy learning the value of hard work and hard money. I still have a lot to learn about the publication process but I plan to have it done this fall. I’m SO excited about the illustrations….you guys are gunna be blown away!

I have ~1000 frens on Nostr and it’s my only social media (outside of LinkedIn which is useless hell on earth). I don’t really have any other places to promote the book and I’m wondering if I need the broader reach X to get out there. Also, this npub is for my personal rants and may not always be kid-friendly so it might be good to have dedicated profiles for the book.

This is a passion project and I’m not concerned with turning a profit but I want to honor the artist I’m working with and put the story in front of as many kids as possible. Is it worth it to get back on X or should I just see what I can do here to start?

Do it

Ultimately do what’s best for you

That’s the thing though……haha

Do it and see how it goes. If it’s a bad experience then you have the opportunity (free will) to stop using it.

Being there even for business gives me the creeps.

I agree. But I’m torn because I want the book to reach as many people as possible.

There used to be a way to do crossposting from Nostr to the Bad Place with nos.social, but I don’t think it works anymore.

nostr:nprofile1qyv8wumn8ghj7emjda6hquewve5kzar2v9nzucm0d5q36amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwp6kytnhv4kxcmmjv3jhytnwv46qqgrkcud2uwjfruweamz8ewshug5umfq38g9mkmn2u9mk6ajru2w2lg7a5kd8, is that feature gone for good or just temporarily offline?

Now that’s a cool idea!

I say get the book ready and then note it here. You will get more support from the NOSTR community.

Thanks. That’s what I’m leaning towards. I nuked my Twitter over a year ago and the idea of starting over there and playing the attention game feels insincere. It’s probably better to keep it authentic.

Sent you a DM with an idea when the time is right. 🤙🏻

I’d say when you provide free content to X, or pay attention to content on X, you become the product they sell to advertisers. When you buy ads on X, (like maybe for a cool kids book) you are the customer. Being a customer of X is useful, being the uncompensated product of X is not. Spend your time building on nostr and simply purchase exposure on X if there is a positive ROI on the ad spend.
