Trying to decide what city to visit in the fall;

My general criteria:

* cool weather

* walkable, or good public transit

* interesting things to see/do

* fun people to be shiny with.

I was thinking Boston, but not with their hotel prices. They are way way too high for the weeks I was considering. Maybe in December.
