I wouldnt even call them temporary fixes quite often. They are good at making things worse. But as far as something that can be perceived as a fix, yes its always short term. They all think in terms of election cycle and career length in general. So long as the consequences are far off enought that they cannot be held to account when it breaks, they dont care. Its always about being re-elected, nothing more.
