I have my @blixt set in amethyst, wouldn't that cause a notification in amethyst app? I know it's not like muntiny.

I havent tested Amethyst recently. I know for sure Alby and Mutiny support NWC. Try one of these two wallets to check notifications for zap receipts.
Blixt is not tied to nostr as far as I’m aware. This means that amethyst would not generate any notifications blixt related.
Probably the amethyst setting you have is default wallet, which simply redirects to your default wallet when you want to zap.
