I’m starting to lose my steam…

My agency was once the #1 midsize federal agency to work for. Now they’re auditing our badge swipes and sending reports to office directors, forcing us to work weird schedules with different work days each week, and taking away more and more telework. Work/life balance is a thing of the past. Our building used to be vibrant, happy and welcoming, but now it’s just a shell of its former self. There’s no sense of community anymore, everyone’s withdrawn and sad. Our second S1 in six months is being forced out, and the person who is being nominated to replace them used to work for one of the authors of project 2025. I know that this is happening to every federal agency, I know that others have it even worse, but I’m feeling more and more sad with every passing day. This institution that I love and that I planned on retiring from is being destroyed from within. I was determined to outlast them, but it’s only been 6 months. I suppose there’s nothing to be done about it all, just venting and mourning.
