The problem isnāt the lack of algorithmsāitās who controls them.
People arenāt rejecting algorithms themselves, theyāre rejecting opaque, manipulative, and engagement-driven ranking systems that traditional social media forces on users. The goal isnāt no algorithms, but user-controlled algorithmsāwhere individuals decide what they want surfaced, filtered, or prioritized in their feed.
We donāt need to blindly copy legacy social media; we need open, modular, and customizable ranking systems that put users in charge. The tech exist it just needs to be built the right way.
