actually, most of the "Big Tech" in AI want open-source (apart from OpenAI), so they were happy to see this bill die. Safeytism is pushed by a few who want consolidated control
I don’t know the details of this bill but as far as I understand it has more to do with implementing a regulatory framework for #AI companies which would effectively create a barrier to entry for startups rather than addressing the open-source vs closed-source question. It’s true that in general many #BigTech companies support open-source models.
