After Lavrov compared Macron to Hitler and Napoleon, Putin also likened the French president to the former French dictator, saying:

"There are people who want to return to the time of Napoleon, forgetting how it all ended."

These statements are linked to Macron's recent stance, in which he classified Russia as the greatest threat to Europe and placed the French nuclear arsenal at the service of European nuclear deterrence. This means that a nuclear attack against a European country would be met with a nuclear response from France.

However, from a historical perspective, Lavrov and Putin's comparisons do not make sense, as Napoleon and Hitler invaded Russia, whereas Macron has outlined plans for precisely the opposite: strengthening Europe's defense against Russian invasions.
