Today, at mile 16 of a 21 miles run, my pace slowed down and my brain started telling me that I’m tired and I should just accept the slower pace.
But I didn’t. I saw that I had an opportunity to set a new best effort for 30K (18.64 miles) so instead I started going faster.
I did set the new best effort and I kept the faster pace beyond the 30K. I even run the last mile as the fastest at 7:49.
When your brain starts giving you excuses for why you should quit, ignore it.
Tell your brain to GFY and know that you can keep going and can actually push harder.
