I truly don't understand the obsession some people have with satoshi
honestly, who cares what he wanted/thought/did; why are current behaviors justified based on what satoshi did as if he was some kind of deity?

Completely agree
There is beauty in the idea of what he has created. I think most humans are wired to look for a leader, be it in the physical world or the spiritual realm.
What I like about the cult of Satoshi is that Satoshi doesn’t exist. It’s this collective image built over countless hours of communicating amongst thousands of people, all this based on a few traces left by an online account.
But if a movement needs a leader, because most humans are weird to think that way, having a leader who does not exist, does not control the direction and cannot be dethroned or “cancelled” because of some old tweet he wrote is a rarity and a strength.
His big idea gave them hope and faith. Those are qualities that can start religions, thus people acting as if he/she/it is a god. It's all in the math. For all we know, satoshi could have been an entire group of people.
The best thing Satoshi did was inventing #bitcoin.
The second best was disappearing.
