We are approaching winter weather again. It is time to start restocking and reevaluating what we have stored in our vehicles to be ready for an emergency.

Vehicle Emergency Kit contents list.

I am trying to gear it towards people who are not "preppers". What suggestions do you have to improve the list?

All Year/All Weather Items

Emergency Information Packet (Insurance, blood type, allergies, home address, contact phone numbers, towing company, etc...)

Vehicle Escape Tool

First Aid Kit

Basic Tool Kit

Heavy Duty Leather Gloves

Drinking Water

Duct Tape

Zip Ties

Ratchet Straps

Spare Automotive fuses.

Change of Clothes

Rain Poncho

Rubber/Waterproof Boots

Portable air compressor/tire inflator

Tire patch kit

Nylon Tow Strap

Gas Can

Jumper Cables (large gauge wire, extra long length)

Battery powered Jumpstart Kit

Emergency flares/beacons

High output flashlight with lantern capability

Head Lamp

High Visibility safety vest

Extra Batteries for emergency kit devices.

High visibility duffle (to contain the supplies)

Winter/Cold Weather Items

SOL Heatsheet (heavy duty poly backed mylar blanket)

Snow Boots

Knit Cap/Balaclava & Gloves

Small Propane Heater w/propane canister and lighter

Candles and matches/Lighter

Snow Scraper/brush

Chains and/or other traction assist

Collapsible shovel

De-Icing Spray (or DIY 50% Water/50% Isopropyl Alcohol in a spray bottle)

Extra winter formulated windshield wiper fluid. Nothing sucks like having to stop because you can't clean the road salt off of your windshield...

And, of Course,

Properly inflated Spare Tire

Car Jack

Lug Wrench
