The President of the Russian Supreme Court, Irina Podnosova, died suddenly in Moscow tonight. She had held the position for just one year, following the sudden death of her predecessor, also in Moscow. Podnosova was a classmate of Vladimir Putin at the Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) law school. A new president of the court has not yet been announced.
