As far as the theory behind it, Javascript is code that runs in a web browser, and it commonly is used to fingerprint a browser so they know it's you from website to website.

As far as Linux, this article was written for you,

I am being honest and fully agree with you and the article which is why I'm trying to shift from my norm. Trying to make an informed decision but sometimes suffer from analysis paralysis and will admit that

Just buy a new pc or a used one, put Linux Mint on it. You will be fine, and fairly quickly get over the "hump" of not knowing how to do anything

Go with mint over pop? I was reading your article and for a mac feel looks like pop was the way. Do you recommend mint over the others? I know that are different flavors of Linux and I'm trying to cut my teeth on the non-technical noob friendly version. I honestly have no clue what I'm doing as should be obvious

If you're okay with System76 having a little higher prices (like ~30% more) then Pop is good. They have high quality stuff, but don't do pop unless using system76 hardware.

I don't know what that entails but I will keep it in mind lol
