There is so much potential in the direct messages of #nostr

Something tells me that they will evolve in a good way to start giving a good fight to the rest of the messaging applications.

Until that to continue using Signal.

I have tried it and used it but I think it is a good idea poorly implemented, however we will have to wait for how it evolves. I still prefer Signal
