If it was something tangible and direct like we will plant 1 tree in XYZ place within 30 days, or even just donate $5 to someone fairly reputable and effective like the Rainforest Trust, I wouldn’t be annoyed. It’s this ethereal “offset” which has no data, logic, or evidence to prove it works let alone even just exists. Offsets are 90%+ scams.
