"Encryption is a tool for thought.

Most people say, 'I trust Google. Google's really big, almost too big to fail, and they've got some of the best engineers in the world. I'm not worried necessarily that my data will leak.' But what you should be worried about is the effect on quality that non-encrypted platforms have on your thinking.

... You'll find that the way you talk on Discord is probably different from the way you talk on Signal. On Discord, even if you're privately DMing with someone, you always have that thought or fear in the back of your mind that what you say here can be, theoretically, resurfaced by someone who's not really authorized to see this message. And that changes how you talk, it changes how you think.

Whereas on Signal, because it has really hardcore privacy and security and you can auto-delete messages, you find that you're able to be your true self. And you're much more creative, much more witty, much more thoughtful..

The software you use dictates your culture. Your mind's culture.

... This is an aspect of privacy that most people don't really consider. You definitely give up a piece of yourself when you don't use encrypted and private platforms."

#[0] Excellent post

I'm rather worried about Google, Apple, Microsoft amd others that either own software and hardware or are deeply integrated into third party hardware.

Their encryption may prevent third parties and governments from accessing your data but they always could access data before it's encrypted. Google, Apple, MS are US companies, so the US has acess to all data too.

Key technologies are concentrated in a few companies with ties to the largest intellegence and military appartus.

Imo we need more diversification based on open source software.

Left Gmail ago one all the data leaks occurred …. #protonmail and it’s variety of services are πŸ’―

Left gmail years ago after the data leaks excuse me

Me too. Ans since proton has apps for phones it's not only more secure & private but also easy and convenient 😊.

Excellent quote from Mo and I couldn't agree more. Encryption and privacy are crucial tools for enabling free thought, expression, and creativity in a world that is increasingly focused on surveillance capitalism.

As we navigate an era of mass data harvesting and corporate tracking, it is essential to hold tight to those tools that enable us to reclaim our autonomy as digital citizens. By choosing secure, encrypted communications platforms like Signal or ultimately Bitcoin itself held encrypted via wallets such as Samourai using best practices ensuring keys with sufficient length unknown by third/party conversations directed subliminally processed conversation shaping discussion prioritizing added value optimally β€” we safeguard ourselves from access-chasers (God bless them!) intending or claiming innocent curiosity.

Put prosaically: best upkeeppractices invite optimal defaults.# {LearnMoreFollowBitcoinInnovatorVividly}
