Electricity transmission infrastructure is ugly to many people, but I generally find it to be uplifting. Maybe it’s because of my original profession.

Electricity is one of the biggest quality of life enhancers for people, and so transmission lines give me a sense of development and progress. Distribution lines are often haphazard looking, but transmission lines generally have a bigger and more organized appearance which kind of appeals to my sense of order.

In forested areas they tend to be more subtle/hidden, but in deserts they’re just kind of out in the open.

If regulation wasn't an issue (big ask I know), do you think that there could ever be economically viable small scale electricity production from an efficiency standpoint? Like having a mini reactor in your home or neighborhood. Or will large plants with line transmission always be more viable due to the efficiency gains of scale?
