The South Gate of Angkor Thom is one of the most iconic entrances to the ancient city of Angkor, Cambodia.
Constructed during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century, it features a massive stone causeway flanked by 54 carved demons and gods, known as the "Churning of the Ocean of Milk."
The gate itself is adorned with four giant faces, believed to represent the Buddha, gazing out in all directions.
This monumental structure exemplifies the grandeur of Angkor architecture and its spiritual symbolism, marking the entrance to the once-thriving capital of the Khmer Empire.
