Don’t get me wrong, Damus is great, but it feels like the app slogan should be “the social network you control…as long as you’re connected to wss://relay.damus.io” nostr:note1exznqutfvmw8ptvwle29h57ty5phxsmhxlkpjztlf9ewzj2sd3dsuyvwgw

Everything seemed to work fine when nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s nuked the relay though. People probably wouldn’t even have noticed he did that if he didn’t say anything. #thenukening

That was impressive being it was such a massive relay.

History != discoverability.

My counter narrative is that I like damus specifically because it’s one of the few remaining clients where you can actually control what relays you connect to.

I’m all for clients implementing NIP-65 but I want to be able to turn off auto-gossip.

Our notes, reactions, and zaps didn’t disappear either though. If they did, I don’t think anyone noticed.

Yes if it was so centralized then this would have been an impactful event

we are switching to the gossip model once we switch to the local relay for queries, we haven’t been able to in damus’ current form due to various technical concerns.

You can read here why:
