The best piece of advice that has helped me to be more patient with my kids and the kids in our homeschool co-op is to remember that children are rarely acting out or being difficult "on purpose" , they are not deliberately trying to be difficult, they usually have an unmet need or are unsure of how to act, or just not thinking. If you can remember that, it helps to frame the situation and then you as the adult can step back and remain calm. Other than that, having a plan for how to respond to a behavior beforehand helps.

Also determine bare minimums for everything from homeschool to chores to behavior. Once you've met the minimum it is easier to recognize which battles to fight and which fires to put out.

This has helped my wife and I with our 3 schoolaged kids who are all strong willed or headstrong

Good luck and God bless

This is definitely important to remember! Behaviour is a form of communication and I KNOW that, I’ve worked with vulnerable populations my whole life…I guess it’s easy to forget when you are being challenged by your spawn. 😅
