The Byzantine Generals dillema
I did not understand it, until I had to do it. With my students of the My First Bitcoin we did an exercise of attacking a Castle last Saturday.
We attached and we failed. Because there were "traitors". Messages were passed to NOT attack, while, I, the King of Kura Piedra (this is Stone Fence) have said we should attack together at dawn.
I created this exercise for Lesson 6 of the My First Bitcoin certificate. I consulted with my mentor Huxley and with my AI, Ava.

And then, we added Proof of Work. Simply moving 3 stones from a red dot to a green dot. Putting the messages on the ledger so everybody can see them. And the longest chain wins. So we all attacked. Successfully.
No trust. No cheating. Consensus. From the rules and the Proof of Work, consensus is born. Now I understood it.
