In many ways nostr is similar but we have a different “audience” here - people with lower threshold for bullshit.

I generally don’t bother with any of that advice myself because I find it cring to “grow a following”. I’ve changed somewhat since leaving Twitter and have different values now - like quality of relationships over quantity.

Which is such a cool shift

What you really need is a few high quality relationships

yeah. Unless your goal is to use socials for revenue, the follower count doesn't matter. Twitter has evolved now to the point where there are a handful of professional creators who are putting in the most work and monetizing their audiences. I don't really blame them - if that's where your customers hang out, that's the logical place to approach them. But, I guess I got tired of seeing tailored tweets created just for engagement farming and account growth. Once you know what they look like, you can't unsee them. With everyone using the same tools and the same GPT helpers, it's really obvious and gets boring fast.

Yeah the main thing that ultimately pissed me off was the censorship

Which is a fundamental problem I just can’t get past

Regardless of the revenue I might make!

Plus to your point, GPT driven feeds is a no thanks

It's also kind of ridiculous that you can't access your entire followers because only a small fraction of them see your content, despite following you. AND, if you go inactive, Twitter doesn't take your posts as seriously when you come back. At least that's what we've noticed from tests. It takes extra work just to get on the good side of the algo.

So what does a nostr future look like?

One thing I’ve noticed as a user is I feel less anxious

I don’t refresh or check it all the time which I like

Whilst I don’t get lots of clickbait thrown at me

Saying that I like creating content & “it’s not who you know, it’s who knows you” is a sentiment I really like

Nostr is so early but we have a chance to re-direct these skills
