The Pentagon’s latest report confirms that China’s Chengdu J-36 and Shenyang J-50 sixth-generation fighter prototypes are undergoing active flight testing and feature tailless stealth designs.

With multiple prototypes flying since late 2024 and rapid design iterations continuing in 2025, the report indicates that China is accelerating development of its next-generation airpower, potentially reaching visible milestones ahead of the U.S. Boeing F-47, which is scheduled for its first flight in 2028.
