I tried to setup a new NAS yesterday. The biggest problem was getting new HDDs.

On Amazon, I am only allowed to buy 1 HDD, lol.

Okay then. Ordered it and drove to a local electronics market. They had exactly 1 (non NAS) HDD. Ok I bought it. Now I got 2 HDDs and I had to look up my old crap to harvest 2 more old HDDs to get this thing up and running.. it's really hard nowadays to get more storage at home.

Wow. You are only allowed to buy one harddisk on Amazon? Any idea why? Shortages? I never heard of this.

Yea I think it's a shortage thing. I think a seller on Amazon can limit how much a customer can order.

I remember when I ordered like 8 of this years ago.. no problem at all. But nowadays it's getting quite complicated

Did you hear of RAM manufacturing issues? (Manufacturers moving to produce memory for AI instead of consumer electronics) That's that....

Prices of RAM went trough the roof and other memory related items will be too.

Error....not a Kingston SSD, it's WD SSD.....not that that changes anything really but still, mistake was made.

Yea I know and I'm glad that I already got spare RAM at home haha.

But I did not know about classic HDDs. Not even SSDs 😅

Yeah...SSD's are made of same memory modules (or something like that....basically same factories) as RAM.....and when OpenAI boutght out manufacturing resources, they halted everything....things that have preexisting contracts are not rising as fast as things that do not have preexisting contracts. It's a huge shitshow all thanks to OpenAI.
