Nostr is so free, as in freedom, compared to Twitter. It's a nice catch phrase, but its meaning can only carry weight when you really do need to protect your freedom.

The other day I tried to set up an X account using a pseudonym, because I wanted to flex. If I want to post cat pictures or pick holes in the latest music, I''m not going to hand Elon my personal details to post trivia.

Elon's goons wasted hours of my time before refusing to authorise or authenticate a user account on a platform where free speech is a supposed cornerstone of their company.

Screw them. I'll post cat pics on Insta instead. Same reaction. You do not comply .. It is frustrating, but really doesn't wreck my quality of life.

But what if I were revisiting a state where they don't share the concept of freedom of expression. You know, the protections that westerners enjoy - as long as we hand over our personal data to private companies to sell as they see fit!

I've been places where nowadays they do throw ex pats in jail for "harmless" remarks on Twitter. So instead of flexing, I really need protection, saving me from myself. But Twitter simply keep on applying a protocol based on the assumption I'm just another of the most bored people spouting shit in the safest place on earth.

Want to get edgy online in a dictatorship state, and protect your freedom - Nostr - you want a pseudonym account? Go right ahead. But I need to be totally anon! These people don't mess around. Sure, we have an instant solution for that. Fill in the anonymous posting option. Like this guy IE me, who said, What.

And the kicker is, with Nostr you don't even need to justify why you want to be anon. It's assumed you are free.
