Most cultures, but especially western world, have an addiction with "homo heroica". Collectively we're addicted to the promised self-actualization said to be embodied in the hero's journey.

Moderns have jetison the ancient myths only to find themselves creating new myths. Rarely do we find meaning or purpose profane life of the ordinary world.
