Ok refresh the page and try it now. When in multi-column mode the background of the notes starts gray-ish and fade over about 15 seconds to the normal semi-transparent. Let me know what you think!

Do you think it would be wise to keep them with the grey bg until clicked on?

That doesn't match the aesthetic I'm going for really.
