Vitalik Buterin has proposed a 2-of-3 proof system architecture for optimistic, ZK, and TEE rollups in EVM to achieve stage 2, offering instant finality and reduced risks. Also, ZK-EVMs are on track for single-slot proofs, but the Ethereum ecosystem lacks standardized proof aggregation layers needed to reduce gas costs for multiple applications using ZK proof systems
