It has to do with Red Hat and its control over Fedora. It feels that the opt-out telemetry is the first stupid decision from many others to come that are gonna affect the distro.

Didn't realize they were adding telemetry. Really don't like that. Thanks for posting and giving me something to think about.

No way! That's been on the tech news along with the Closed Source drama. The worst thing is that the telemetry is opt-out, so easy to setup and forget about it. That's why I'm switching to Debian after 6 years of using/running and promoting Fedora.
