This is not the future I was promised. You should be able to use your car and phone together without having to worry about this nonsense.

If your car has its own cell connection, it should not report back to anyone without informed consent. That doesn't mean forcing customers to agree to terms they never read in order to use the thing they bought.

I know there are a lot of open source options for IoT things, but sadly a motor vehicle is yet to be conquerored (apart from old vehicles).

I agree this isn't the future we were promised. But you nor I will change the auto industry.

I have a 25 year old car and a bicycle, so I don't need to change the industry.

And when it finally dies (beyond repair), I'm going to be looking for another old clunker. Cheap, repairable, and not a spymobile.
