During our busiest month of the year (July), we have multiple servers that use between 5-10 Gbps during business hours. Back in the days when we had to negotiate bandwidth with our data center for our highest utilization, we would have been raped 11 months of the year.

AWS is expensive as hell until it isn’t. If you have a highly variable workload over the year there is no better option than the “cloud”.
