I’m actually surprised that they didn’t fine them sooner. The government in Australia has been on them about this issue specifically since early this year.

This month will be a difficult month for X. EU with the DSA, UK with the Online Safety Bill and India is getting pushy, again. X will have to abide by the laws of every government that they provide services in, even when the governments implement new laws.

Fines are the least of X concerns right now. I’m anticipating at least one or two governments will do a blackout with X by the end of the year for noncompliance etc.

This could have both negative and positive impacts on #nostr

Perhaps a select few individuals will seek out the protocol and abandon state controlled tech in search of real freedom of speech. X can’t afford to lose the ad revenue in multiple countries at this time under the current model.

*I could be wrong but probably not* nostr:note13dqwlny2lk7ljv8u0tk0vkh272htrz3y5zr95dkktwn748fscscq6c3qhq
