I generally start with "it is censorship free social media". Then I add "you could earn bitcoin if they like your content".

My success rate is fine but they don't stick around much after they install the app :)

I think when onboarding is better and building a follow list is much easier they will jump on to nostr more

Yeah, this is a good starting line, but for some reason, most of my girlfriends don't get excited about 'censorship-free’. I suppose it's because they mostly post about travel, animals, work, fitness, family, food, fashion... nothing that really experiences censorship. However, they are slowly learning about Bitcoin and with time they will understand the need for this (I’ve been preaching for years and fortunately in the last year or so many have started to show a bit more interest in Bitcoin, but for now I guess that line does not make them jump for joy 😅).

Lot of people seem to relate to immigrating to a free country, even if you have to leave some of your wealth behind in a tyrannical one. Short-term pain, long-term, you’re building on a firm foundation.

And if you think travel posts are unlikely to be censored, wait until the climate-change/energy-use police tally your carbon footprint and decide local-only photos for the next six months until you’re in compliance.

True

🫡 Thank you for telling people about bitcoin & nostr.
