I’ve thought about this a lot. How can one explain bitcoin in a way that’s digestible to an average person? You can’t. People way smarter than me have tried and failed.
Deep down it’s because you have to internalize how batshit insane of an idea the difficulty adjustment is. On the surface level, someone might be able to understand solving double spend and why that’s important. But that doesn’t get to the root of why it’s so profound.
You have to get to a point where you can see bitcoin as a military grade self regulating mechanism that doesn’t use time or have one central “brain”. And thats where you start sounding like a crazy person… because as Satoshi stated, there is nothing to relate this to.
