Thinking Bitcoin will defend itself from all attack vectors without the stewardship of humans is like the people who thought the US Constitution could defend itself. Both are good systems, but not perfect, and both are getting ass raped by malicious humans. Both need to be updated.
Maybe some validation logic to verify the transactions don’t encode some BS image data or something? I’m not familiar with bitcoin programming though.
Ideals will survive, but they need help to stay strong.
Just like the Constitution wasn't worded clearly and strictly enough to avoid unintended interpretations that lead to abuses (such as the commerce clause), the Bitcoin code is not defined strictly enough to avoid unintended results, like allowing people to embed stupid fucking jpegs as unprunable data.
