I met with such a person a few years back, it was very weird to hear him say he was proud of it.

I was always doubtful when friends of mine used to tell me "don't change" or "stay the same", which was meant as compliments... Maybe it was just their highest standard and could not consider any further improvement... Now I'm thinking I will use this experience to tell people I love "you're doing great, keep going "
