This has been on my mind lately.

What do we all think will be the likelyhood of unrealized capital gains being implemented in the western world?

What do we think we can do to stop or at least curtail it?

Is anyone working on this possibility?

Lawyers? Accountants?

What do we think?

Very low.

Very very low.

If they attempt this it destroys the economy and it destroys anyone with assets.

It’d create a civil war.

Maybe they are so desperate that they actually try something like this. A lot of signs pointing to them panicking about pension funds. I guess they are illiquid, so who knows how bad the situation really is.

Game theory reasons why you want to be the last to do this because all the capital will leave whoever is first.

Even the worst sort of politicians-all of them, I realize-know the level of destruction this would unleash. Also, they are all bought and paid for by people with lots of unrealized gains. This is just floated to fire up midwits who can't conceptualize the difference between capital and beer money.

Exceptionally low. I don’t believe any candidates are serious about it because it would destroy the financial system.

It’s a political ploy to win votes. They’ll blame the other side for it getting shot down then quietly drop it.
