The vast majority of “recycled” items are burned, thrown in dumps or shipped to third world countries where they are burned or buried.
It’s a scam and all the stupid instructions and rules for recycling are the ritualized humiliations that the peasants must go through. The lords demand it even though it all ends up in the same places as the trash.

FWIW US steel industry successfully provides ~93% recycled material back to the market and it seems like a profitable endeavor. Of course nobody’s forcing them to do it 🤣
But they’ll tell you to build with wood and glue and say that it’s regenerative (spoiler- it’s not)
