For sure, but corporate types (finance in particular) are very copycat cya ... So this is something they can show their bosses

The CEO of Wells Fargo is on their board, so would be very interesting to see how that played out.

Something to consider is that Blackrock is $MS 2nd largest shareholder. They have demonstrated their persuasion well in the past.

microsoft now also basically embeds an LXC runtime in their OS as an optional component and appears to be throwing a lot of money at Canonical these days

pretty sure ballmer and gates would never have allowed that either

honestly, i can really envision things flipping and windows migrates to linux kernel, ARM hardware, and they maintain a legacy W32/W64 API and directX

the benefits of everyone going unix are pretty obvious at this point i think... even much of recent years work adding features to microsoft has been about improving posix compliance

That would be a really interesting direction. I would still avoid windows but would like this change
