The plug adapter on my monitor broke. The AC/DC hardware is fine but the plug broke. Do I hack together a fix? Is it worth it? Iβm missing my big monitor already.

Yes, just shove some wires in there.
Find an old barrel connector and splice the wires, or get a screw on barrel connector on Amazon. But you wonβt get just one
Can you solder it?
I'd chop off the busted connector and re-terminate the cable with a brand new connector, always nice to repair/recycle stuff. Definitely solder it. As always, the right tools for the job make things much easier. This is a decent walkthrough https://youtu.be/Sg8c5GPSIWc
