I think there are limiting beliefs & beliefs that offer a more expansive experience. This is at the core of some of the work that's been done around mindsets.
The stories we tell ourselves are often full of assumptions and incorrect information. At the root of these stories are beliefs that don't serve us, that prevent us from experiencing the fullness of this reality. Uncovering them can be tricky though.
We are often too caught up in ourselves to really connect with the other. Beliefs around our own lack of worthiness can often get in the way. I like to meet people with a sense of neutrality but it can be difficult to maintain in many circumstances.
I suspect that we carry many small illogical beliefs that we've picked up from past traumas. These hurt parts of ourselves need to be acknowledged with compassion before the larger more expansive belief can be slotted in.
I've found positive affirmations to be a good way to sniff out these hurt parts. Saying "I deserve the love & support of the universe" will not resonate if you carry traumas that appear to show otherwise. You can't force a belief in when your perceived experience says something else.
