Lots of Americans come here to hunt or even just passing through on their way to Alaska with rifles and shotguns. It's mostly just handguns we're weird about.

Yeah. The US illegally restricts our use of short barreled shotguns and rifles on the theory that because they are not military weapons, they can’t be protected by the second amendment. But some state ban weapons because they are military weapons, or like such weapons, because they are ignorant of the law.
But since justice takes generations when it comes to firearms, people literally will die in prison before “shall not be infringed” is defined by a court of law.
