They don't explain things in normal words because it's very difficult to distill complex ideas and systems down into clear human speech, often through the use of analogies or narratives.

They think they're so smart.

Make them prove that they can name ten books... that aren't programming guides.

I already have six books on my list to name. Soon I'll have ten. Then I'll come back saying, take THAT...

Those who are the most skilled are able to explain it in plain language. The act of mastering something also requires that we uncomplicate it — first for ourselves and then for others.

Years of coding, and I’ve yet to find many exceptions to this.
