抖音 (Douyin) is marketed much differently than Tiktok. Both are Byte Dance products but the algorithms are extremely different. I have friends that use 抖音, it is not perfect but I promise it is not used for reckless trends and twerking kids. All social media is dangerous for kids. You can see many states in the US now trying to change the age requirements to 16 and up.
