In your opinion, what’s the best way to gift small amount of #Bitcoin for Christmas?

Like secret Santa at work for 10$.

Ecash in QR code format and instructions to download a cashu wallet.

I think that’s a bit to advanced for a person who never owned #Bitcoin before.

1/4 oz silver rounds with the Bitcoin logo on them

Download Aqua Wallet, send some sats to Liquid, write down the seedphrase on a Christmas card and give it to the person. This way they'll be able to use it in the future, including with lightning, even if the amount wouldn't be spendable on the bitcoin timechain

Thank you, maybe a little bit too advanced for someone new to #Bitcoin, but I will check it out.

Bluewallet. Create a wallet write down the 12 words and hand them over to them and keep a copy incase they in the future say they lost the keys

It very simple to download Bluewallet and import 12 words very easy

Doing a $10 UTXO would not be smart. Will more than likely become dust or will cost on a 1-2% on-chain fee to move it.

$10 on-chain will force them not to move and take action and learn. On a sat card 10 bucks im sending that to cashapp and selling for 2 donuts hahahahahaa fees go high now they really have to study hahaha

If you run a node you could make LNURLw links so that the funds are only moved off your node once the user takes the learning action. Plus since it’s lightning (on your own node) you don’t need to trust anyone.

If you want to try out an LNURLw you can test run http://lightning.btcforplebs.com

The LNURLw links are printable qr codes and easily written to NFC tags

You also remove the fees involved with on-chain

Maybe it’s not smart, but if it works like a orange pill for the person receiving the gift, it’s worth it 🍊💊

Thank you 😊

Unless the recipient is a Bitcoiner it will get lost or forgotten. Or sold immediately which I guess is fine.

IMO it’s a wasted gift. Better for the rest of us as it just increases scarcity with lost sats.

In my opinion it’s like plating a seed, a #Bitcoin seed 🌱

That's like giving someone a dog toy for Christmas, and then when they say "I don't have a dog" you respond "then this is your chance to get one!"

Yes, its like plating a seed, a #Bitcoin seed 🌱

Extra obligations do not make for a good Christmas gift. It's inconsiderate. What if they don't want to take care of a dog? What if they don't want to take care of a plant? What if they don't want to go to the effort of interacting with Bitcoin?

People want to be able to appreciate the things that you do for them. It's rude to choose a gift with barriers in the way of that appreciation. Bitcoin only makes for a good gift if the person it is being given to is already interested in Bitcoin.

Thank you for your opinion.

I gave an explanation so it's not just an opinion, but I'm glad you appreciated it anyway.

Even though you provided an explanation, it is still your opinion. I neither have to agree with nor appreciate your feedback.

Just found out my favorite #Bitcoin exchange is launching gift cards next week 🥳

Try a SatsCard! These are great for that! https://satscard.com
