i'm not sure there is any contest. basically no politician with any real power has ever proposed doing anything about it.

i think its more of a culture war topics both the left and right folks in power enjoy throwing out there to divide the masses and create shouting matches. while they continue to loot and pillage a dying late stage empire

politicians have been pushing socialist policy for a while now😑 also, why would you bring this up if you were not trying to make a point in contrast to the OP? what is your point anyway?

there are perhaps 1-2 politicians in american who believe in actual capitalism, who do more than just give lip service to a balanced budget, living within our means, etc...

the republicans are about to pass a bill that will add anywhere between 3-5 trillion to the national debt.

all of these elected officials believe in socialism and in a rigged market, they just claim to rig it for different people (well some also claim to be free market capitalists). ultimately, either party inevitably rigs it for the rich benefactors that got them elected.

that is what happens in late stage empire crony capitalism
