Are they? Or do they simply want the same things as the rest of us, but don't understand what the path to achieve those goals truly looks like?

It's about the "sacrifices" that you're willing to make to achieve your goals.
Bitcoiners are willing to put in the sacrifice of their own in terms of proof of work for their goals.
People captured in the politics games arena are willing to sacrifice other for their own goals. Mostly leftists, but nowhere near exclusively...
I would agree that that tends to describe leftists more often than those on the right. But I don't think that it describes the majority of those on the left. Perhaps the vocal majority, but not the general majority. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm being naive. I see the ones willing to sacrifice others at their own expense, but I don't believe that describes the group as a whole.
Majority sees wealth as a sin, and want to "redistribute it better". This always leads to the said wealth being destroyed. The ignorance and hubris on the left is thinking that it can be done (better). And they are willing to force feed their view against any dissenring minority "for the common good" and sacrifice the hard work of others.
I love that Bitcoin can't be seen and csn't br grabbed. Therefore, it eliminates the leftists inescapable desire for taking it without the work from others to "redistribute it better".
You cannot take other people's karma. If you think you can, you're naive and/or evil.
I don't think this is exclusive to left either.
Both sides basically wants to decide how you should live your life and want your money to enforce it.
Just some of the issues are different. (But surprisingly big portion is common and both sides agree to enforce it 🤷♂️).
It's not left VS right or whatever. It is cooperation based on free decisions VS "democratic" enforcement...
They are scum. They want keep on taking from thé productive class
While there are certainly people that fit that bill (and plenty of them!) I don't believe that adequately sums up all leftists. Perhaps the more vocal of the bunch, but I don't believe that the vocal minority accurately represents the silent majority.
