Good morning, #nostriches!

I'm not sure if I've ever posted any pics of aluminum welds they aren't as pretty as stainless, but, gosh, getting welds like the following is still really darn satisfying!

I love days when I can just show up and lay down tons of welds like this without any BS getting in the way. ๐Ÿ˜

Beautiful!

Yup!

After updating the firmware in the welder I'm using, I can finally knock it welds that look very proper. Before the update I couldn't adjust the frequency of the AC welding arc, and that was just really irking me since I don't like welding like it's 1999. ๐Ÿ™„

With the proper settings (and skill, obviously), it makes it a lot easier to make those lovely, consistent, iconic welds.

Amazing that firmware makes such a difference. And that it shipped without features its hardware could support.

Neither of my little welders have firmware AFAIK. I suppose i should check!

Not being able to adjust the frequency for TIG welding aluminum is awful on an inverter welder.

I'm convinced that Miller was expecting to make this feature a paid upgrade at some point, but for the money they are charging, the lack of basic adjustment was likely a major cause of not being able to meet sales goals, so they updated it.

I'm also pretty convinced that they are using the exact same inverters per capacity (so the 300A Synchrowave and equivalent Dynasty) are pretty much the same except for the front panel that could get you more control since that's really the only difference between the simpler Synchrowave and Dynasty these days. It pisses me off.

I'm getting to get my employer to buy other brands and stop worrying about buying blue or red. An inverter is an inverter. The guts is the US brand machines are not made in the US anymore since there's no big copper transformers these days.

This is why US companies are the root cause of their own doom. They don't think ahead and now they are paying the price with losing a lot of market share to cheap Chinese stuff that just effing works at a fraction of the price. (I can get 3 MORE capable machines for the price of one of these dumb Synchrowaves, and likely 5-7 for the price of one Dynasty.)

Good morning!

those welds are fucking beautiful! GM

Thank you!

GM to you, too!

Nice & clean

Let's hear her purr next time

It's hard to get video in the shop.

Not enough welding content I'll post more

Correct. That's why I tag this stuff to make sure it's able to be searched.

GM and nice work there! If you havent already, Look into Everlast (the green ones), I feel they are a good contender to compete with the blue and red brands....i only have a few hours one of their plasma machines that i recently picked up (80i model, i think?) And so far so good. Soon ill be looking into one of their water cooled tig machines, for the price point its definitely worth a try...

I've been rocking Everlast for my personal machines for over a decade at this point. I'm VERY familiar and that's what I've been recommending.

Awesome, thats good to hear

Unless you need a machine from a US brand for dumb Berry amendment compliance BS, I'd run a business with mostly Everlast equipment. (I did for a while.)

100%. I wonder if they ever plan on producing an engine drive.....

Well, they got started with generators, so who knows?

Man I wish I could weld like that (amateur MIG, and boy am I an amateur).

Hey, at least you've got a start of a very useful skill! I was a beginner, too. Everyone is. You just gotta start somewhere.

Well, now I know who to go to when I need advice, or my welds aren't coming out well. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Yup. I'm always happy to help with that!

Damn nice work

Thanks!

Skillz

I got 'em!

These are what I've been welding up:

There is a bunch of other parts that go into these, but, that's the next step and I'm focused on getting all the frames welded up since they need to whacked into spec before I can put the other parts on.

Its really beautiful! Great job

Thank you!
